Job DescriptionI. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives. With a key member of our team retiring, we're seeking a skilled writer and editor who knows food and cooking, thinks creatively, and can select/solicit/develop and guide recipes through testing, photography, and final layouts. This person should be nimble with words and fluent in food, able to research and write their own feature stories as well as assign and edit others' work with a high degree of autonomy and accuracy. The ideal candidate is collaborative, creative, self-driven, highly organized, and able to deliver great work on deadline as part of our fun and food-loving team and an able manager of people and projects. II. Essential Job Functions Weight % Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results 70% Pitch and produce timely recipe features, columns, and other content that informs, inspires, delights, and resonates with Allrecipes readers. This includes: Scouting trends and actively contributing to editorial brainstorming and photo planning sessions; cultivating sources; curating recipes from the site and other sources and shepherding them through recipe testing and editing; researching, writing, assigning, editing, polishing, and fact-checking copy; serving as brand steward and food authority during photography; meeting all key deadlines; and collaborating with contributors from story pitch to final layout. 30% Assist EIC with various functions, including: planning, assigning, refining, and top-editing others' content; managing freelance copy editor, fact-checker, proofer, and editorial intern; fielding ad and marketing requests; collaborating with digital peers; budgeting, scheduling, and maintaining style guide; and representing the brand at conferences, press events, and client round tables as needed. 100% III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
